Fundamentals of Billet Grille Style
Billet grilles are crafted only from materials that are proven to be rugged, dependable and long-lasting.
Aluminum Billet Grilles
The material most widely used in the billet grille industry is aluminum, for good reasons, too. Aluminum is known for its strength, versatility, low-density, durability and resistance to corrosion. Because of its malleability, aluminum can easily be rolled, stamped, drawn, spun, hammered or forged into almost any shape, making it the ideal metal for the automotive and aerospace industries. While there are 7 different types of aluminum alloy, billet grille manufacturers use either the 5xxx or 6xxx series. The difference between these two types is that they are wrought from different alloy components. 5xxx series aluminum uses magnesium as its principle alloy, which makes it mild to moderately strong, and resistant to corrosion. In the 6xxx series, a mixture of magnesium and silicon are used, producing a higher-strength aluminum with excellent corrosion resistance.
Stainless Steel Billet Grilles
Known the world over for its strength and corrosion resistance, stainless steel is a popular metal used for crafting billet grilles. The reason that it resists rust so successfully is that it has a high chromium content. In fact, for steel to be considered stainless, it needs to have at least a 10.5% chromium content. Plus, stainless steel is incredibly tough, resilient and easily fashioned into a multitude of forms and shapes.
Just like the aluminum, there are two types of stainless steel used in billet grilles. The more economical of the two, 409 series stainless steel, is commonly used for many different automotive accessories because of its sturdiness. The other type of stainless steel, 304, is another popular automotive metal. It has a higher chromium content for the ultimate in corrosion resistance.
ABS Plastic Billet Grilles
The most cost effective billet grille material available is the ABS Plastic. Widely used across the entire automobile accessories spectrum, ABS Plastic is a lightweight, rigid and durable thermoplastic material. While it is not as strong as stainless steel or aluminum, ABS Plastic still makes an excellent medium for building billet grilles because the plastic is impervious to rust and quite durable. For added customization, it can usually be painted to match or accent your stock paint.
To Billet or Not to Billet
After deciding what materials you would like you grille to be made out of, billet grilles can be divided into two camps based on their installation type: bolt over billet grilles and replacement billet grilles. Gtr the Legend is Real
In 1952, a Japanese company “Prince Motor Company”, which was a former firm producing Zero Fighter warplanes, generated a Skyline vehicle. After that, Nissan took over it and developed as Nissan Skyline, the topmost car of Nissan. Since that day, Skyline has retained image and prestige of its position perpetually which the best car is Skyline GTR. However, Nissan still needs to shift Nissan Skyline and the easy way is to use the name of such topmost car “Skyline” (Skyline GTR) but “Skyline” is deleted, therefore, it becomes GTR finally.
Design
If talking about Nissan “Skyline”, an outstanding external appearance is a facet since the first model of Nissan brand to R34 code. However, V35 and V36 code begins to show its curve but there is a feeling that Skyline with “V’ code does not have spirit of Skyline much.
Although GTR with R35 code is designed to be modern and different from R code of past Skyline, it has lines around the car telling its own origin and pedigree which is “facet lines”. However, its facet makes drivers feel that it might be constructed from work hard for aerodynamic design because this facet seems to facilitate air flow more as if it uses every tiny air to increase its efficiency. Especially, “these facet lines” still make GTR brutal in every aspect such as its air intake emphasizing “one stop air intake” like a front side to extract heat to a big point. Moreover, a side air intake is like a gill which is continuous line from front fender.
On the back side, there is an air intake beneath the car or diffuser to increase a pressure of high speed driving. It is flanked with double exhaust pipes. A roof is designed to blow air to the back better with the curve roof called Aero Blade Canopy. It seems to bring the air into a back spoiler and C curve antenna is also called Sword Edge but it is really looking good. Of course, it is painted specially for GTR with high quality color, Double Clear Coat, tested by Anti-Chipping system to prevent scratch from little stones too.
Looking through inside the car, you could feel a sport driving (like a sport racing very much). All devices support this professional driving, for instance, middle console tilting to driver, steering wheel with many control buttons which allows driver adjust many things without taking hands out from the steering wheel, compact seat and separate air conditioners for driver and another one. Besides, a chunky gearshift still makes driver feel good and there is a Start button in the middle with noticeable red color. The position of hand brake is placed for prompt use. Seeing through the steering wheel, there is a large gauge in the middle of monitor with big red numbers at 7,000 rounds whereas there is a monitor showing distance and speed on the bottom. On the left, you would see a hand showing speed up to 340 kms/hr and there is a big clear text to display the position of used gear on the right. Additional, there are many buttons to control automatic air conditioners divided into right and left side as well as all premium stereos of Bose are equipped already. Then, this is an important distinctive point because it is three-set button to pump up and down to adjust the driving for your emotion. The left is used to control gear shift while the middle is used to control the smoothness of undercarriage as well as the right is used for vehicle dynamic control (VDC-R). Top speed is 311 km/hr while acceleration 0-96 km/hr is 3.5 seconds (vehicle weight 1,740 kgs.). Even though the engine is very wonderful, Nissan gives precedence to environment by controlling the least exhaust (really very less) and it passes the Japanese standard of least exhaust called “U-LEV”.
Powertrain System
Moving the gear to the back could balance weight between front and back. Nevertheless, there are some complaints from GTR lovers that why there is no normal gear included and would it be enjoyable? In spite of GTR comprises with gears which seem to be automatic, actually, it should be called the normal gear instead because you do not need to pedal the clutch. If you want to go fastest as you want, there is no any technique, just accelerate tightly and see smoke from your hot wheels…!
Balance and Break
