Here are some more information for Pontiac Firebird:

And in the beginning there was only 1
The Camaro is a product from Chevrolet Motor Division of GM(General Motors), and was first brought into the lime light September 29th 1966. The Camaro was made to compete with the competitor Ford and their new release the Mustang. The Camaro shares the make up as the Pontiac Firebird, which was also introduced around the same time. Advertisement for the Camaro was over the radio and was directed toward the younger generation. The name Camaro is said to have no real meaning but some GM researchers later found Camaro in a French dictionary means "friend" or "companion". When it hit the floor the question was asked "What is a Camaro", the response was "A small vicious animal that eats Mustangs".
In the first generation there were differences
In 1967 the debut Camaro had three main packages available. The RS was based solely on appearance and included hidden headlights, exterior rocker trim, and RS badging. The SS had a 350, V-8 engine. During this time frame this was the only car that offered a 350 engine until 1968. The SS also came with non functional air inlets that were on the hood, special striping, and SS badging. It was possible to buy both the RS and the SS packages. The Z/28 was not out in the open so most customers didn't know about it. The Z/28 option required power front disc brakes, and a 4 speed transmission. It featured a 302 small block V-8 engine, the engine had been specifically designed to race in the Trans Am series. Only 602 of the Z/28 were sold throughout 1967.
A bigger junior
In 1970 the next generation of the Camaro was released. It differed from the original version with a wider and larger style which made it a heavier car. In 1982 the next generation of Camaro came out. This generation was the first to have fuel injection, 4 speed automatic transmissions, and also a 5 speed manual transmission. It also came with 16" wheels and hatchback bodies.
Into the future we go
When January 9th, 2006 rolled around the word of a new generation for the Camaro was spread. At the North American International Auto Show is where GM showed the 2006 Camaro Concept. The 2006 Camaro was powered by a 400HP LS2 V-8 engine. GM also unveiled their new 2007 Camaro at the same place a year later. On August 10th, 2006 GM Chairman and CEO, Rick Wagoner said that plans for a all new Camaro muscle car were in the works and were to begin early production at the end of 2008.

Classic Pontiacs!
So, you think you know your cars now, do you? Well, consider this to be a test of your knowledge of Pontiac history. 21 Pontiacs are featured here: some are current models while others are truly classic in every sense of the word, dating back to the early 1960s.
6000 - Full sized [or almost] front wheel drive sedan of the 1980s.
Aztec - Ugly is as ugly does.
Bonneville - Full sized Pontiac sedan excitement retired in 2005 after more than 40 years of service. Part of GM's massive restructuring and retiring of top model names.
Catalina - This model hearkens back to the mid 60s when two door hard tops ruled the day. Discontinued during the late 70s during GM's "down sizing" shell game days.
Fiero - Mid-engine sport two-seater built for Pontiac during the go-go 80s. GM reached into their parts bin and took out Chevette and other components to create this little roadster.
Firebird - It goes without saying that this "pony" car is sorely missed. The good news is that it may be back by the time the 2009 model year rolls around.
Firefly - Twin to the Geo Metro, the Firefly was Pontiac's 3 cylinder captive import of the late eighties to mid nineties.
G6 - Current compact model in Pontiac's arsenal available in rakish coupe or sporty sedan.
Grand Am -- With its 1973 debut, the Grand Am quickly became the division's mid-range performance car. Retired in 2005 with a host of other Pontiac model names.
The car has survived GM's model name shake out and today's car is a mid-sized, front wheel drive sports sedan.
GTO - Introduced in 1967, the GTO was a true coupe turned sports car. Rear wheel drive and a big V8 too.
Phoenix - Part of GM's "X cars" of compact import fighting vehicles introduced during 1979 as a 1980 model.
Sunbird - Nothing but a rebadged Chevy Cavalier.
Sunrunner - Nothing but a rebadged Geo/Chevy Tracker.
Especially nice as a convertible!
Mercifully replaced years later by the Montana.
Vibe - A currently produced compact five door sport wagon; cousin to the Toyota Matrix.
So, there you have it. At least another half dozen models were left out from this time period plus many models that dated back to the division's founding as part of the Oakland Automobile Company in 1926. Pontiac excitement...have you caught it yet?
In the 1970s, the car was made larger, as many cars of that decade due to federal regulations.
This sudden surge in popularity by the younger generation was due in large part to the purchase of the cars by teen sensations.
Fuel efficiency, as we all well know, is a big deal right now as gas prices continue to rise, and show no sign of stopping. In fact, the makers have taken this into account, and are working on a hybrid model of the car.
Due to the popularity and to engage interest, General Motors is putting out more accessories for the car and its lovers.
There are actually four different Pontiac Grand Prix keychains available for your pleasure. They can be great for gifts or for your own personal use. The most popular key chain available is the leather with a silver ring around the metal medallion.
There are many ways that you can personalize these for your particular use. If you are a car dealer you can have your dealership name or logo engraved on the back of any of the key chains for only five dollars. Other companies may also wish to have their company names or logos engraved on these key chains, along with a number, to help them track their company cars. You could also personalize them with the date that you purchased your favorite model year, or your name or the name of the person you are giving it to.

what modifications do i have to do to the wiring to my 1981 pontiac firebird to change the motor to a 389?
i have a 1965 pontiac 389 motor and i want to put it in my 1981 firebird what do i have to change on the wiring???
Small block is small block. It will bolt up but you may have problems w/ sensors. An 81 wont have a lot to deal with so you may not have any problems. Just engine light. If you eliminate the computer alltogether it will work fine. I did this in an '87 Olds 442.
