Here are some more information for Port Hole:

Those who criticize China may be missing the value of their excellent central planning. Now, some might say China is utter chaos in its growth strategy, but I see some real brilliance there myself. I see a giant "Spider Web" distribution system at the heart of their strategy. If you care to listen, I'd like to explain, you see, I spend a good amount of time flying over various civilizations on Google Earth. Not sure why, but I've always loved maps and flying.
Plus, I've been watching China's work to bring in resources to it's nation and I follow the geo-political news and business events as well. For instance, the Sittwe Port in Myanmar is completely interesting as an example of one of the spider web cross support points. And I noted this commentary in International news recently;
"If China is confirmed as the preferred buyer, a pipeline would also be built from Sittwe into Yunnan, and India may turn its investments elsewhere" according to the Irrawaddy News. Sittwe is a deep water port and is a great strategic location for both India and China along the Bay of Bengal. Also in the same news source this comment in another article;
"The port at Kyauk Phyu will be connected to a new 1,950-km highway to be built through Burma directly to Kunming, the capital of China's Yunnan Province" also according to the Irrawaddy News agency, which cannot be cheap to build, considering terrain.
More points and cross members of Chinese central planning web. In fact, I'd go so far as to call China, the first civilization totally designed like a spider web, with a perfect design if you take out the various jogs due to terrain. You might also not the Gwadar Port, Pakistan on the Arabian sea, rail and pipelines in China, a back door to import resources and export goods all the way though Pakistan to the Karakoram Highway along the old Silk Roads ancient trail.
Indeed, on yet another side of China, they knocked a hole in the Great Wall into Russia for an expanded highway into Russia. Additionally, China is also hooking up to a pipeline from Turkmenistan-Uzbekistan-Tajikistan to the Chinese border.
Add to all this it's major ports in China and what you have is a two-thirds giant spider web outlining their civilization. Indeed, as a master planner I am impressed with China's central planning efforts, mild redundancies and distribution infrastructure to insure it has the resources it needs to make its civilization work.
Apparently, the Chinese are excellent planners, highly methodical, and resourceful enough to see their agenda through; China does have some major hurdles to cross still of course, but their progress and determination humble me, and make me think that these are really smart people running things there.

Sub box Port hole placement?
I know how big my enclosure has to be, and I want to make it ported and i know (from factory recomendations) that it should have a diameter of 3" and be 7" deep.
I've heard random things to keep in mind while making a ported sub box such as:
-Make sure your port is at least a port diameter length away from any external or internal object (i.e. walls and subs)
-Make sure your port holes are flared out.
are there any other things I should keep in mind when placing my port holes? And are these things i've been hearing true?
Thanks in advance!
Yes, generally you want enough room in front of the port to breath, you dont want it against the trunk wall or anything. Flaring the port helps, but if you have plenty of port area its not necessary. You can buy flared flanges for tube ports @ www.parts-express.com
As for where to put the port, some people put it on the front next to the sub, some on the side, some on the rear. In my experience, it doesnt make a WHOLE ton of difference in a car. If you can fit it on the front, go for it.
On home speakers, some speaker companies put the port on the front, or the back, or even downfiring.
