Duramax vs. Cummins seems to be the question on everybody's mind. Let's be honest Duramax vs. Cummins, has never been the real question, neither has Duramax vs. Powerstroke or Cummins vs. Powerstroke in any of these debates. For the most reasonable answer to these questions that I have found I look back to the teachings of a wise professor. A Philosophy teacher I once had was discussing what he had found to be the main causes of homosexuality after years of being a counselor for school districts and at the local prison, he said that they were genetics, environmental and hormonal. Might I be so bold as to say that it really doesn't matter who makes the truck or how durable the components are in the truck are but the real answer to the question Duramax vs. Cummins or Powerstroke vs. Cummins or Duramax vs. Powerstroke is what did your father drive (genetic) where did you grow up, what did the people around you growing up drive, what do your current friends drive (environmental), and what body style really "does it" for you (hormonal).
Another factor into this question that my professor went over was the fact that men are attracted to form rather intellect, so just as some men are attracted to women that chew (Powerstroke Owners) men will be attracted to different trucks based on how they look to them. Another factor that I think can fall in line with this is how does the truck make the man look to the ladies? Have you ever noticed how when you are in a parking lot and you see a huge Power Stroke pull into the parking lot with a 12 inch lift and 35 inch Super Swamper Boggers on it and then it will park and out pops the 4'5" driver in his wranglers and a belt buckle that is almost as tall as him. Then you catch a glimpse inside the cab of the truck just before he closed the door and you can see the seat up as far as it can go and sometimes, not all the time, but sometimes I swear I see a stack of phone books. I don't know what it is but it is the strangest phenomenon, I think that factors into the whole form thing as well, the fact that the men need to feel secure about themselves, maybe they missed the memo that the new Jeep Liberty's have a nice little diesel in them as well, and they wouldn't need a ladder to pull themselves up into it.
Now I hope you don't think that this is it and that I am going to leave you hanging. You know I would never do that my friends. I will be back soon enough with some factual base and research that has been done over the past several years I will include dyno results for max horsepower, shop transcripts for history of what make had which problems etc.. But for now stick with my theory of the three degrees of Trucksuality.

97 Dodge Ram
The 1997 Dodge Ram is a full size pickup truck that comes in a wide variety of sizes and body styles. There are many other competitors in this segment as well, including the Chevy Silverado, GMC Sierra, Ford F-Series pickups, and the Toyota Tundra. The Ram has been able to stand out because of its unique body styling which is very noticeable from the "horse collar" grill up front to the accents running outside the cargo box. Areas where this truck excels include towing and hauling, which more often than not are best in class between the Ram and similarly equipped competitors.
The body styling of the 1997 Dodge Ram was first produced for the 94' model year and was used as the basis for newer models that would be produced after 2001. Most features for this model year are similar to the previous ones including most of the power trains as well. Engines offered for this truck are a 3.7 liter V6, a 4.7 liter V8 and a 5.7 liter V8. Trucks that were manufactured as a basic package without 4 wheel drive most commonly come with the smaller V6 engine. While it is a good engine it is optimal for those who will be doing mostly highway driving and not towing extreme loads. Mid-level packages with 2 or 4 wheel drive are usually outfitted with the mid-sized 4.7 liter V8. Upper level trim models and some 4 wheel drive middle of the road packages come with the larger 5.7 liter engine which is very powerful and offers great amounts of torque.
Trim packages offered for the 1997 Dodge Ram include an ST, LT, Laramie, and few specialty trims. ST models represent just a basic work truck with very few if any additional features beyond what is necessary. Expect one of these trucks to not have power windows or locks, no AC, a tilt steering wheel, and only basic interior fabric options. Moving up in refinement are LT models which offer a moderate amount of interior amenities. These trucks usually have AC, a Cassette/CD player, cruise control, better choices for interior fabrics, and an optional electronic transfer case for 4 wheel drive models. The Laramie edition is the upper level package which offered with leather upholstery, an expanded center console and a lot of additional items that could be purchased.
Also available are a sport themed package and an off-road package. Sport models come with the larger V8 engine and a specially tuned suspension system for performance on pavement. Off-road models were designed with raised bodies and sturdier suspension systems for better performance in off-road situations. Both these packages could come fully loaded if desired.
The only area where the Ram really falls behind competitors like the F150, and Silverado is fuel consumption. Comparable models of the 1997 Dodge Ram usually got at least 1 mpg less than its rivals. The largest trucks with the 5.7 liter V8 get about 13 mpg for city driving and 17-18 mpg on the highway.
One of the most appealing aspects of these trucks are the torque oriented power trains systems which allow them to haul and tow more weight than just about any competitor. They also are very comfortable on the interior and handle very nice which is why anybody looking for their next full-size pickup must consider one of the Ram

fuse question on 1985 dodge?
I have a 1985 dodge ram pickup d-100
it all of a sudden when i hit our round piece of **** curb pulling into the driveway, when my wheel hit the curb i heard a loud single tap noise, saw alot of sparks, and then my radio died out and wont turn on.
NONE of my lights work even accessories except for blinkers(all out are:tail lights, cargo lights, indoor lights, and headlights, power windows, and radio)i have to drive it and make sure im home by 7. its ridiculous. i looked at where the fuses are in the fusebox. and the very first one on the upper left corner is litterally melted. i might be able to fit a new fuse in it but a) scared to.
B)dont know what fuse to put into it
c)i dont even know if thats the problem.
PLEASE help me out here. thanks
and no i dont know what the hell happened to the fuse that was there. it 'dissappeared'
its had to have shook something loose that shorted out and its impossible to give you a direct answer on this one,id doubt that you hit hard enough to shake all the fuses in it loose,so id be looking to see if the battery moved or caused this too happen in it,i own a 86 model truck and i looked on it and couldn't see anything that could have caused what yours did other than the battery or wiring harness getting a pinch in it and shorting out, good luck with this one i think your going to need it.
