Here are some more information for Rear Roof:

When you're hitting the road, whether for a vacation or just a simple sporting outing, it's easy to quickly run out of storage space inside your vehicle. This can happen even with today's minivans and SUVs. With the active lifestyles that so many of us lead today it seems there is always a desire to bring along more gear. And with all the variations in gear and athletic equipment, it's easy to quickly take up the space available inside your car. Plus, as I learned long ago from packing suitcases for travel, it doesn't matter where we're going or for how long... if there's room in the suitcase or luggage, it's going to get filled. For all these reasons and more, a rooftop cargo carrier makes a lot of sense.
When you're looking at expanding your cargo capacity, rooftop cargo carriers can be a blessing. Typically you have two main choices in styles; either a hard shell construction cargo carrier or a soft shell car top carrier. As with so many things, when you have choices like this it's never easy. There are always pros and cons to each choice you make. Is take a look at some of these now.
When considering a softshell cargo carrier, one of the immediate benefits you'll notice is the price. While some of the higher end versions can easily get to the $200 a, you can also find some that are below $50, and even under $40 at times. Of course you get what you pay for so if you are planning on a lot of use for very long travels in exceptionally inclement weather, we might suggest you not go for the absolute least expensive option.
Another benefit of this style of rooftop cargo carrier is that it is not permanently affixed to the roof of your vehicle. If you have a basic rack system already installed that includes crossbars or side rails, it's easy to quickly add or remove one of these luggage carriers. The downside to this is that there is not as much security (as in theft security) as there is with a more permanently mounted hard shell case. One consideration that raises concerns for some people is the idea that having the carrier sitting directly on the roof of your car may damage your roof. Fortunately, many of today's soft sided cargo carriers come with soft felt bottoms to help protect the finish on your car. At the same time, the rest of the bag is usually made of a durable water repelling polyester type material. While the harshest of whether they end up eating through, your supplies should stay safe and dry in all but the most severe weather.
The benefit for the hard shell with top carrier include the security, as mentioned previously. Not only is your gear able to be safely locked within the case, but the case itself can be securely locked to your rack and vehicle. In addition, you have added protection against whether. It really doesn't matter what the weather does, your gear will stay safe and dry inside a good quality, hardshell cargo carrier. What's more, there are no worries about driving under low hanging branches and such things that might potentially snag on one of the softer variety carriers.
When it comes to storage space, you can get more or less as much or as little as you need in either model. Typically you'll be looking at adding anywhere from 10 to 20 cubic feet of storage space. That's a lot of her own free.on the inside of your vehicle. Whether that's for more people, or keeping more gear closer at hand will be up to you. Personally, I like having coolers with plenty of road snacks within reach.
One final benefit of this type of car top carrier is that for certain types of cargo, having things loaded somewhere other than inside the "living space" of the vehicle is a true blessing. If you have ever been around hockey equipment, you will know exactly what I'm talking about. I am more than happy to transport that stank on the roof of my car rather than inside the car with me.
As an avid outdoorsman, camping, hiking and biking are among my favorite ways to spend my free time. Some recent research into Saris bike racks led me to be able to tie them all together with a week long trip to the Colorado Rockies where I got some great mountain biking, hiking and camping in.
