my remote side mirrors dont work anymore and my ac did not engage / turn on at all, what happend here?fuse?
I own a shop, and it sounds like you may have some blown fuses. An easy way to test the fuses is; use a paper clip, bend it to where it will contact both sides of the fuses, turn on a component that stopped working, and touch the paper clip to each fuse until you find the one that is bad. Looking at the fuse, you will see there are two little metal pieces on the ends that you can access real easy this way. They also make a fuse tester that will light up when you touch a good fuse, but its made the same way as the paper clip, except it has sharp points to probe the fuse ends with. I doubt these two components are on the same circuit. Your AC may be low on freon, and has shut down. They have a switch in-line that will shut off when the pressure falls below a certain level. If your AC seemed to not blow as cold as it did, then this is the problem. You can purchase a charge kit at any parts store. Follow the instructions, wear something to protect your eyes (Freon will freeze your eyeball), and its not a bad idea to install a can of freon that has oil in it for the system. Also; the clutch on the front of the AC compressor may have quit working, so the best idea would be to have a service person take a look at it. If it's low on freon, it must have a leak somewhere anyway, so they can put dye into the system, and locate the leak right away. It is usually an o-ring needing replaced, but you must evacuate the system in order to get it back up an working again, so unless you own a vacuum pump, you won't be able to do this yourself.
As for your mirrors; if the fuse is not bad, then you may have a broke wire, and it usually happens in the fold of the door. They break from being bent back & forth each time you open & close the door. If one broke, it may have shorted out, and blew the fuse, so it would be best to check this out with a meter to pinpoint the culprit. DO NOT replace the fuse with a higher amp fuse, or you will run the risk of fire.
The truth of the matter is; you would be way ahead of the game to take your vehicle in to a reputable shop that can find these problems right away, and give you an estimate of the cost of doing the repair work. This way you will know for sure what the problem is, and you can take it from there yourself "if" you have tools, and you are mechanically inclined enough to complete the job. The best rule is; if you don't know about something, then it's always best to leave it alone, or you could do more harm than good by trying to fix it. Take it in, and have it looked at if this is the case.
Glad to help out, Good luck!!!
