Changing the oil on my 2004 Sierra Denali...?

I want to change the oil on my truck and I have not actually ever changed oil myself. I've seen it done and I know it's fairly easy, but where do I drain the old oil from?

The only reason it may appear easy is because the vehicle is probably up on a professional lift and the technician has the right tools to remove the oil filter and access the drain plug. He also has provision for catching the old oil and disposing of it. To do the job safely at home, you'd need a good set of safety "jack stands" to start with along with some Rhino ramps and wheel chocks. Try crawling under the front of the vehicle to reach the oil filter. See the problem? You can't safely work under a vehicle that has a wheel removed or is raised up until it's supported with safety jack stands properly.
