Here are some more information for Steel Fender:

This information is for playing good country music.
I've been teaching country guitar lessons for several years now and one of the most asked questions is," how do you play behind a singer?"
If you are the lead guitar player you only want to put your runs and fill-ins where there are spaces between the lyrics. You can play chords while the singer is singing, but not loud enough to cover the singer up.
Now the next question is "what do I play in those spaces?" Very important question. One way is, use your imagination and create some notes that create the feeling' of the mood of the song. You may try bending the strings for effects. Another way is, play little runs that create the mood. (Like Grady Martin did on El Paso). Most people don't know how to do this. They just play notes all the time while the singer is singing. This is wrong!!!!
You never cover up a singer or for that matter other instruments. Usually each player knows when he is supposed to play. You switch off on verses or the bridge of a song. This is where practice comes in. You work out the details with the other players. Like guitar take the first verse, steel take the second, fiddle take the bridge. You can make this for every song in the set or change it up. Sometimes the steel will sound better on the bridge.
Most important don't cover the singer up if you want to keep a job.
Can you imagine having a jam session with 4 lead players all trying to play at the same time? That is not music, that just making noise. It just does not work.
Listen to the country recordings and pay attention to the fill-ins.
While the guitar is playing you don't hear the steel. While the steel is playing you don't hear the lead guitar.
I hope this information helps in your playing.

The Secret Of Junk Car Recycling
Is Junk Car Recycling Helping or Hurting our Environment?
The United Recyclers Group (URG) tried to measure the impact of Junk Car recycling in a new fact finding mission, focusing on the energy & resource savings of reusing and recycling parts such as steel fenders & wheels.
Put together by the University of Colorado’s Environmental Engineering Dept, the report's findings were based on the assumption that 11 million vehicles are retired every year. The mission also found:
Recycling cars produce between 3 and 4.5 million tons of shredder residue to landfills each year. This material includes everything from plastic to glass to rubber.
- Junk Car recycling extracts 24 million gallons of motor oil a year, which is reprocessed to keep it out of landfills.
- Aluminum wheel recycling would save 1.71 billion kilowatt hours of energy that would be needed to make new wheels from virgin aluminum.
- Recycling just steel fenders saves more than 8 million tons of raw material (mostly iron and coal) that would be used to make new steel.
All 3 materials are commonly taken out during the auto auto scrapping process, with steel & aluminum sold off as scrap metal. But car recycling also landfill about 25% of the average car by weight, which includes other recyclable material such as glass, plastic and rubber.
The CU study did not take into account the impact of Cash for Clunkers, which had some auto recyclers receiving 10 times the supply of cars because of a government incentive to trade-in old cars for recycling.
“Thanks to the Junk Car recycling industry, the brakes are being put on climate change,” said Michelle Alexander, URG executive director. “Energy consumption is being drastically reduced; less material is being mined, refined and used; many different types of pollution are lowered; and the carbon footprint for the whole automobile industry is being reduced.”
Recycling also creates jobs and economic development:
Example: The state of Ohio
** The Junk Car recycling industry supports 4.3% of the jobs in Ohio.Recycling supports 3,177 business establishments in Ohio, employing 98,302 people.
**The average wage paid by Ohio’s recycling industry is $36,600.00.
Ohio’s recycling industry annual sales reached $22.5 billion.

Rear Fender Hung Hardware Question?
Has reader seen anyone use welded art panels, sold as
wall decoration, fixed to either side of rear tire just like the
saddlebag mounting hardware? But instead of leatherwork usually seen elsewhere one uses hooked shock cord to bind
gear in colored nylon stuff-sacks as needed or just rides with
cool metal sculpture naked in the breeze? I was looking at
Internet metal art sales & saw some jazzy steel work that's unlikely to trash itself or damage wheel if my M/C falls over.
I thought two12x18 inch pieces would be an easy clamp job.
Fine idea.
I would recommend bolting them on instead of clamping or welding.
