calling all book critics!! tell me what book to read next please =)

so far i really love nora roberts (my fav is northern lights) and also james patterson (alot of them are my favs lol). not really into the whole danielle steel books but if you want to list one of those thats fine too...maybe i havent found the right one yet. i like murder, mystery, of course a little romance but not sappy...im actually a picky reader so if i cant get into them by the first 2 chapters then i quit =( so i need help finding my next book rather than waste my time starting a bunch of them. thanks!!
