Where to wax a shorty with a deck pad?
I just graduated to a shortboard and I threw a deck pad on it. I waxed from about a foot and a half from the nose to about half an inch from the deck pad. I'm wondering if I put wax too close to the deck pad.
Note: my friend only has wax where his front foot goes, but I see Slater and Irons have wax all the way to the deck pad. I was concerned about stepping a little off the pad and slipping if there's no wax there.
i guess it's a matter or personal preference but it sounds like you did a good job. when in doubt i say overwax. for me, knowing i'm gonna have flawless traction gives me confidence to drop into anything. why risk it, you know? nothing is lamer than missing the ride of your life because of a stupid slip, when a little wax can prevent it. congrats on your graduation!
