Car Audio, If you have an Ipod and a 2001 Pontiac Sunfire how would you hook it up?

My car has Radio and a Cd player. I would like to avoid a FM transmitter and wire this thing right in with the deck system and drill a hole in the dash for the wire to come out and goto the Ipod / Iphone. Keep nice looking. Can this been done?

Best Buy had an adapter thing but it was $150 and not even the right one for the year car. I just want a headphone jack to plug into.

I don't think you will be able to because you would need to connect to a pre amp so unless there is already an input you're stuck. It may be worth pulling the audio unit out to see if there's an input - but it's unlikely.
FM transmitters are cheap and work well - so if you do go this route buy one where you can select the output frequency as this avoids interference from stations transmitting on the same frequency.
