Studying abroad can be a wonderful, life-changing experience, but it is one met with lots of stress. Transitioning to a new culture, academic rigor, being far from family and friends, living with new people, and many other factors can complicate life abroad as well as your return home. Program coordinators are faced with many of these and other related issues on a daily basis with their students.
Study abroad coaching is a unique form of life coaching specifically for students embarking on an overseas adventure. It is an opportunity to get in touch with what is most important to them about their trip, create their vision and then obtain the tools and support to make it reality. The student receives coaching before, during and after their time abroad to assist in all the phases of transition. There really is no better time for self-growth!
Study abroad coaching is about empowering students to become more self-aware in order to make conscious choices during their time abroad and in their lives. It is also then about translating this experience into marketable competencies on their resumes and connecting it to future career trajectory and life goals.
Many programs do a wonderful job at explaining the physical logistics of studying abroad such as where you'll be living, who your roommate is, where classes are held, rules and policies, and so on. Some may even include the basics of culture shock and what to expect emotionally.
This is not just about cross-cultural education, however. Study Abroad Coaching actually addresses the student's whole life and empowers them to enter into the experience consciously. Providing unbiased, trained support before, during, and after their time overseas can have profound impact on their overall experience and be the difference between an ordinary and an extraordinary program abroad!
The following outlines the three basic phases of the study abroad experience and examples of how coaching can benefit during each:
Preparation Phase (prior to student departure)
o Clarify your vision for the experience they want
o Develop meaningful goals
o Prepare emotionally for the road ahead
o Discuss fears and/or limiting beliefs
o Identify innate talents and passions
o Define higher purpose and calling
Academic Program Phase (student departs and completes time overseas)
o Work through initial transition and "culture shock" (this can include feelings of stress, fatigue, anxiety, depression, homesickness and many more)
o Get out of your comfort zone and re-examine your life
o Deepen your experience of international life
o Connect the cultural and academic aspects of the experience to personal and professional goals
o Provide emotional support to live out the experience you desire
o Accountability regarding the vision and personal goals set forth before the program began
o Address any self-limiting beliefs that arise during the time overseas
Completion Phase (overseas program finishes and student returns home)
o Support during transition of repatriation and "reverse culture shock"
o Guide through effective and conscious reflection on the experience
o Assist with translating the experiences gained overseas into marketable competencies on your resume to help attract potential employers
o Help clearly articulate the major learning from the experience and connect it to your future career trajectory and life goals
Study abroad coaching can help students get the most out of their time overseas and be set for success in life. Having clear direction, being connected to purpose and goals, making conscious choices, expressing emotions honestly and being supported in the journey empowers students to live their best lives, anywhere!

Antioxidant Defense Support, This is Why Healing Hurts
Antioxidant Defense Support
The antioxidant defense support is the weapon behind the detoxification process. After all theses years of contamination, it's time to detoxify your precious, one and only body.
Your body is smart enough to recognize the good from the bad nutrients. If you supply your body with the right nutrients, it will automatically use the best nutrients without thinking twice, thereby regenerating your body and reversing the degeneration process.
At first you might feel the "healing pains", but that is normal. The reason that healing pains occur is simple. Your body will go into shock. For all these years it has been living through threats, etc. and now, through your antioxidant defense support system, you are suddenly supplying everything it needs to fix itself.
Example: Lets use a scale of from 1 to 10, 1 being top shape, perfect health, and 10 being really bad, advanced degeneration. As you grow older, because of the lack of the proper nutrients and today's stress levels, your body constantly moves toward the advanced degeneration level (going up towards 10); you start at level 2 (maybe a headache), then 3 (a migraine), and the next thing you know you are up to level 9 (early stages of cancer).
Throughout all those years you were climbing up the latter. Giving your body the proper elements in the right form and proper balance, would have helped your body regenerate. In effect, that means you are climbing down the ladder. So, you were at 9, but now you're heading toward 3 (a migraine doesn't seem so bad now), then 2 (a mere headache) until you come back to one and feel pretty darn good.
Another reason you may feel those healing pains is the fact that with all the proper elements in the right form and the proper balance you will start the detoxification process and your body will begin to get rid of all the toxic wastes (a.k.a. garbage) that it was carrying around for all that time. All this is possible due to a powerful antioxidant defense support system within your body .
If all of this happens to you, you may cut down a little bit on your nutrients and your antioxidant for a short period of time (a couple days) until you start to feeling better. Then start to take what you where originally taking before the pain was too much.
The first couple days that the antioxidant defense support system is in the detoxification process, you might have a burst of energy, depending on your state before taking the supplements, or you could have a system shut down where your whole body falls into what seems like a sleep mode, where you feel incredibly tired for a couple days, depending on how bad your degeneration is.
Wow! It sounds great, doesn't it? Taking supplemental nutrition will heal you. Well, the answer to that is, no it won't. Sorry to disappoint you, but a supplement's function is not to cure you.
The supplement's job is to supply the antioxidant defense support system with the proper elements in the right form with the proper balance, so your body can achieve its objective/job, which is to maintain, repair, and prevent diseases, and heal itself.

Will you support the President if he orders a shock-and-awe attack on Yemen, and are you Dem. or Rep.?
So then liberals, did you support his attacks in Yemen a few days ago?
Sounds to me like we're getting a lot of Dems saying they would NOT support their President.
I'm definitely a liberal, and I would not support such an attack.
Fortunately, we don't have to worry about that, since that kind of attack would kill a whole lot of innocent people and create a bunch more terrorists without getting the people behind our recent troubles. And that's exactly what was wrong with our invasion of Iraq.
