What is skimming?
Skimboarding which is also called or skimming is usually used to ride on an inward wave. For skimming or skimboarding you need a skimboard. The technique of skimboarding is slightly different from that of surfing.
What is the structure of the skimboard?
The craft of which varies in size, may be oval or tear-drop shape and used by the skimboarders is called skimboard. There is a tail part in a skimboard which are occasionally in the shape of squash-tail or fishtail. The best size board may be of your chest's height. Usually the skimboards are between 3/4 inch and 5/8 inches in their thickness. There are actually three types of rockers which are traditionally used for skimboarding. One is called a constant rocker (provides better control fro daily skimboarders), the other is a hybrid rocker with a curved bottom and the third one is a traditional rocker which are completely flat.
Parts of skimboard:
The Board: The skimboard consists of a board which is made with either wood or foam. They have a shorter, wider shape and consist of fiberglass and a tough polyurethane foam core. This combination makes the skimboard much lighter than wood board, yet has a larger surface area and is meant for deep sea journeys.
The Grip: They are meant for proper gripping of the skimboard so that the skimboarder does not fall off. The grip is usually made of such material so as to provide a solid grip.
Technique of using the skimboards:
o "One-step" method of skimboarding: Skimboarding starts on the beach. The skimboarder usually stands at a running distance from the water with the skimboard in hand and waits for a wave to arrive. When the wave ultimately comes, the skimboarder runs with the skimboard into the water. The board is usually laid in the thinner part of the receding water. If the conditions are favorable then the board can also be placed in the thicker section of the water. There are also other methods which are known as "two-step" and "no-step methods".
o "Run, Drop, Slide" method: The skimboarder's main attempt is to slide to the wave either by "pumping" or "sideslipping" in order to maintain speed. This is also known as "Run, Drop, Slide" method. When the rider reaches the wave, he tries to climb "down the line", or he may attempt to launch off the wave face and try to perform an aerial trick. "Monkey Crawl" is yet another method of skimboarding.

Lightweight Travel Trailers
Many people who want to add a small camper to their pick up truck discover that there are very few lightweight travel trailers to choose from. Weight is the problem not the variety of the RVs, since most of the existing recreational vehicles in the category are too heavy for a car or light pick-up truck to pull. A closer analysis of the market offer will show you that even the RV companies no matter if we are talking about rental companies or dealers have shown little interest in purchasing lightweight travel trailers. The reasoning for such a sales policy is very simple: these RVs are not that much in demand on the market, and therefore it is not profitable to keep them in stock.
The bathroom plumbing adds up quite a lot to the weight of the vehicle, particularly as the ceiling design has to be altered to. Therefore, some lightweight travel trailers have a rudimentary form of bathroom or lack it completely. Four types of vehicles fall in the category of lightweight travel trailers: the ultra-lightweights, the fiberglass eggs, the pop-up tent trailers and the teardrop ones. Each of the models has its advantage and downside: thus, the pop-ups are suitable for warmer climates, the fiberglass ones have a specific smell inside because of the materials they are made of, and the teardrops have offer pretty little space.
Lightweight travel vehicles of around 2,000 pounds could be the most convenient, but that very much depends on what the client aims at for both quality and use. In terms of size, the interior of lightweight travel trailers resembles a small or medium-sized bedroom in the most fortunate of cases, which is between 10 and 12 feet. This should be enough to accommodate a couple, but not for a family. Manufacturers provide the models ready furnished with basic appliances including a basic functional bathroom with or without a shower, a microwave and a stove.
The amenities included as well as the overall features of the vehicle determine the price for new and used lightweight travel trailers; the costs usually reach $10,000 or somewhere around this figure. The manufacturing year and the technical inspection remain key points to check when you want to purchase a used recreational vehicle. In the absence of a dealer in your local area, check online for more comprehensive resources. The databases you consult should be updated, otherwise you may be looking at items that are no longer in stock.

How would you attach a plywood camper floor to a steel frame?
I am in the planning stage of a small teardrop camper. I want to work out as many of the details as possible before actually building it. So far my biggest concern is attaching the camper body to the steel frame. The floor is going to be built with plywood with a fiberglass/epoxy outer skin. What would be the best fasteners? Would you want an adhesive and/or cushion between the frame and floor? How much would the floor need reinforced at the attachment points?
Well I'm not sure I follow what you are asking. Is the original metal floor still in place? If not you will need something to protect the plywood from road splash (water, snow, salts etc). I'd put down a sheet of metal first and undercoat it.
I'd use an exterior grade 3/4" plywood with maximum number of plys that they make. Drill holes for carriage bolts and after drilling the holes, seal the raw edge and use a silicone caulk with each bolt.
Don't skimp on the fiber glass as the epoxy will crack when the floor flexes as the truck moves.
Good luck.
