Here are some more information for Toyota Corolla:

With the downturn of global economy and the ever-increasing prices of fuel, it is very difficult to get a vehicle that is dependable and reasonably priced. Most vehicles that seem to be reliable might not be within your means, and the ones that are affordable might not be reliable! If you are planning to buy a car and having a similar dilemma, consider the following list of vehicles. These are a few types of vehicles that you may want to buy during recession:
1) Toyota Prius:
This Toyota model is considered to be the most fuel-efficient vehicle in the market today. It has a remarkable mileage of 48/45. In addition, it comes with several other attractive features, such as power windows, remote central locking system, digital energy consumption photo, heated outside mirrors, and anti-lock brakes. Like other hybrid cars, it uses both electric power and fuel, and the functioning of its engine and motor is automatically controlled. Toyota Prius is a great option for those who drive mostly in town and are fuel conscious.
2) Ford Escape Hybrid:
This 'green car' has an outstanding gas mileage of 34/31. It is a great choice to make if you have a little kids or a big family as it offers plenty of space. Instead of buying large SUVs and trucks for your large family, consider the Ford Escape Hybrid, which is small, stylish, fuel-efficient, reliable, and yet affordable.
3) Toyota Corolla:
It has an excellent gas mileage of nearly 37 miles per gallon. It is not only reliable, spacious, and fuel-efficient, but is also reasonable priced. Its price range starts at $14,280 only. What more could you desire?
4) Honda Civic Hybrid:
It has a great gas mileage of 40/45. It is the best option for those who just love to travel or those who are having long distances to drive on a daily basis. The Honda Civic Hybrid is not only reliable but inexpensive as well.
5) Chevy Colorado:
For all those who would still love to buy a truck, Chevy Colorado is the best option. Its price range starts at just $ 14,650. It has a mileage of up to 26 miles per gallon. It is very spacious and offers a great ride.
Besides these five 'best buys', there are many other vehicles that can be considered for a purchase during the economic slump. How much would it cost to change a 2004 Toyota Corolla's trasmission from automatic to manual?
Just wondering a price, found an 2004 Toyota Corolla S for around $9k, but I'm going to negotiate. It has around 88 miles. The only down side is I want a manual and its an automatic, but its the cheapest I can find for a Corolla S model in my area (DFW 75248). Any idea on ballpark price ranges for transmission conversions?
Assuming you are using a used transmission...$1500 for the transmission, $2000 for new computer, $1500 for a new wiring harness, $2000 in labor...
You are WAY better off getting a manual from the factory.
1989 Toyota Corolla All Wheel Drive review from Australia and New Zealand
General comments? I haven't had this car long. I bought it from a deceased estate when my old '85 Hilux ute died after 470000km. I only had to clean it up to get the roadworthy, and since then I've done about a thousand kilometres.
