Sanskrit is an ancient language that goes back about 3500 years. It still survives today in Hindu and Buddhist sacred writings and liturgy, which gives it a strong connection to the spiritual. It has made somewhat of a revival in recent times: Madonna has used it in at least two of her songs; a choir sang Sanskrit verses at the end of the final film in the Matrix Trilogy and again in Star Wars Episode 1.
Sanskrit Texts Tattoos
There are 700 concise verses in the Bhagavad-Gita. Lord Krishna spoke these to his disciple Arjuna. They are said to provide a definitive guide to the science of self-realization.
If you cannot find a verse to suit your philosophy or belief, which seems unlikely, you can have your own translated into Sanskrit. However, you do need to make sure it says what you want it to say. Mind you, not a lot of people will know but there are those who will. This is important if you choose any of the verses, as a number of people will know if they are wrong. In fact, a couple of celebrities are wearing verses with the wrong spelling - so someone has noticed. It is worth questioning your artist to make sure he or she has some knowledge or experience in writing the language. You do need to do some research.
The verse form lends itself to use as tattoos as each verse contains its own message. It works well as an armband as the writing has a chain-like appearance. For those who want others to read the words, and so the message, they can be placed on the back, where the letters can be bigger and easier to read.
The Aum or Ohm Tattoo
Aum is the sound a Hindu and Buddhist makes when at prayer. The Aum in Hinduism is described as the Sound of Light, the Sound of the Sun. It symbolizes the impersonal Absolute, which incorporates all forms of life. By sound and form it is said to represent ultimate reality (Brahman). The three letters (A-U-M) are representative of the Trinity of God in Hindu dharma (Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva). Consequently, the sacred symbol is found throughout the Hindu and Buddhist world.
Buddha taught that the sound of oneself helped in meditation as it concentrated the mind. In this way a person would not only hear the physical sound but, eventually, the sound of the divine.
The Aum tattoo symbol can connect us to an ancient spirituality, an ancient wisdom, a philosophy and guide to living, which has withstood the test of time. This symbol combined with a favorite verse could be a constant reminder of the path you want to follow.
The Buddha Tattoo
The Buddha can be represented in a number of ways and most lend themselves to tattoo designs.
· The lotus flower is a symbol of purity - as long it is not blue.
· The eight-spoked wheel, which represents the eightfold path: Right View; Right Intention; Right Speech; Right Action; Right Livelihood; Right Effort; Right Mindfulness; Right Concentration
· The deer symbolizes the deer park where Buddha gave his first sermon.
· The Stupa represents the universe. It is in the form of a monument to commemorate where the ashes or relics of a holy monk reside.
· The Chattra, which protects against all evil, is in the form of a parasol.
· The Dhvaja is a banner which symbolizes the victory of Buddha's teachings
· Naga is the snake king and is shown as a snake. He protects the Buddha and the Dharma (Buddha's teachings or the ultimate truth)
· The Three Jewels, representing the Buddha, the Dharma and the Sangha (The Sangha is the community of those who have achieved enlightment.)
Any one of these tattoo symbols connects to Buddha and his teachings and hence to his spirituality. They can be combined with a Sanskrit text with great effect as a further reminder to walk the right path, to seek self-knowledge or to deal with others with kindness and fairness.
William Burnell has a long standing interest in tattooing - its art, design and history.

Inconsistent Views Towards Animal Rights
Among other reasons, I became a vegan because I cannot justify needlessly killing an animal. If I needed to kill and eat animals to survive, I would. However, we do no longer need to kill animals to survive. A person can just as easily survive without eating meat, while remaining just as healthy.
In fact, we have the technology to essentially create meat without killing animals, considering how simple of a substance meat is. We recreate meat in the form of meat substitutes, such as soy burgers.
Despite their ability to live easily without killing animals for food, many people still choose to eat meat. These people do not grant animals the right to life. If a person murdered another person and then ate that other person, almost all people would adamantly oppose it. Meanwhile, these same people slaughter animals without giving it a second thought.
It is hard to understand why murdering a human is so objectionable while murdering an animal is not. Most of us vegans and animal rights supporters view that as very inconsistent.
The inconsistency of people's views towards animal rights goes further, though. While people carelessly murder animals because they like the taste of meat and the look of leather, these same people fall heads over heels about "cuter" animals. For example, pigs are generally smarter than dogs, but many people object to the idea of needlessly murdering and eating a dog.
People look at Michael Vick like he is a monster for organizing dog fights, which is utterly hypocritical and inconsistent. Fighting dogs probably do not suffer any more than factory-farmed chickens who are debeaked, stuffed into an over-packed cage, and eventually slaughtered. Why do people think it is fine to make animals suffer for the enjoyment of leather or the taste of a meaty burger, but not for the entertainment of a dog fight?
Of course, many people have inconsistent views when it even comes to entertainment and animal rights. Having dogs fight or cock fights for entertainment is seen as wrong and often made illegal, but hunting for entertainment is a common pastime.
Some may try to excuse the inconsistency by saying that killing is not as horrible as making the animal suffer while staying alive. However, there is still more inconsistency here. Why then do they not have a problem with animal testing? Animal testers carelessly torture animals with unsafe and dangerous products to make perfumes and other needless products. If needlessly torturing animals for petty pleasures is so objectionable to these people, it is inconsistent for them to buy beauty products that have been tested on animals.
Simply put, most people base their views regarding animal rights on emotions rather than on rationality, which results in irrational inconsistencies. Many people do not want to reconsider their inconsistent views regarding animal rights, because that would likely lead to giving up meat, leather, and other animal products.

How do I chage a files permissions if when I right click and view its properties I dont see a security tab?
I need to change a files permissions but when I right click and view properties I do not see a security tab...
You probably have this file on a FAT32 partition. To verify this:
* goto "My Computer"
* right click on the drive that contains this file in question
* click properties and check "File system"
** If File system says FAT/FAT32, you will not see security tab on any files insidee this drive
** If the File system says NTFS and you have Windows XP, then disable "simple file sharing". This setting is available in:
My Computer > Tools > Folder Options > View Tab
