How to shift Jeep Wrangler into 4 wheel drive???!?!?!?
How does one shift a wrangler, 1998 tj, into 4H and 4L, should the stick be in neutral? Clutch engadged/unengadged? Speed? On the fly?
If you have manual hubs that are locked (in 4WD) or if you have a front axle that is engaged full-time (no hub changes, your front axles and driveshaft turn all of the time), you can shift between 2H & 4H on the fly (let up on the gas and while driving "smoothly"). You can't do this if your manual hubs are unlocked (or in "free" position).
If you have automatic hubs, you must STOP before shifting from 2H & 4H.
You can NOT shift through Neutral into 4L without being stopped. If you try it: You WILL hear lots of noise and You WILL cause lots of damage.
